Hello! My name is Dr. Craig Wynne, and I am an Associate Professor of English at the University of the District of Columbia, where I teach General Education courses, as well as classes for English majors. Before my time at UDC, I taught at Hampton University, where I served as a course instructor in First-Year Writing, Writing Research Papers, Advanced Writing Theory/Practice, and Technical Communication. I was also the Director of the Writing Technology Lab and the Chairperson for the First-Year Writing Task Force. During my time in these roles, received a $10,000 grant from the Beazley Foundation in Portsmouth, Virginia to enable us to buy Mac computers to be used in the lab, which can also help students in our First-Year Writing courses develop their ability to communicate visually by making public service announcements and documentaries.
I am also an engaged researcher. Specific research interests involve Singles Studies and composition pedagogy. My interest in singlism began in 2015 after reading Bella DePaulo's Singled Out: How Singles Are Stereotyped, Stigmatized, and Ignored, and Live Happily Ever After. I recognized slights I had suffered due to being single by choice. I have written a number of articles on issues related to singlehood and maintain a blog on it. I recently published a book, How to be a Happy Bachelor, through Kendall-Hunt Press, which was released in 2020.
In April 2021, I established Happy Bachelor, LLC, through I which offer coaching services related to writing, as well as living your best single life.
When I'm not teaching, writing, or coaching, I enjoy hiking, bicycling, playing tennis, jamming out on my guitar, adding to my massive DVD collection, and spending time with my network of family and friends. I live in Washington, DC, with my cat Chester.
If you have questions about any of my work or wish to contact me, e-mail me at [email protected].
